Compare Hokema softbags for Sansula and Kalimba. Find the right padded, fiberglass-reinforced case for your instrument's size and travel needs.
Quick Answer
For a Sansula, choose the Hokema Sansula Melody Softbag 11 tine; for a Kalimba, pick the Twin Softbag or the model-specific B7/B9 or B5 softbag. Match the bag to your instrument's size and the level of protection you need.
Why Size and Membrane Protection Matter
The Sansula has a vulnerable membrane that needs extra protection, so it requires a bag designed specifically for that instrument. The Sansula Melody Softbag includes a reinforced resonator top to protect the membrane and support the wah-wah effect on the go.
Kalimbas are more compact and don't have a membrane, so a standard padded softbag is sufficient. Hokema offers several Kalimba bags that fit different models, so you need to match the bag to your instrument's size.
Trade-Off: Protection vs. Portability
All Hokema softbags are fiberglass-reinforced and fully padded, but the Sansula bag is larger and has extra features for the membrane. If you prioritize maximum protection for a Sansula, the dedicated bag is worth the extra cost. For a Kalimba, a smaller bag is lighter and easier to carry, and it still provides solid protection.
Consider how you travel with your instrument. If you often carry your Sansula to sessions, the adjustable shoulder strap on the Sansula bag makes it convenient. For a Kalimba, the Twin Softbag fits two instruments, which is handy if you own more than one.
How to Choose Your Hokema Softbag
- Sansula B11 Melody: Choose the Sansula Melody Softbag 11 tine. It has a reinforced resonator top to protect the membrane and supports the wah-wah effect on the go. Check that your Sansula is the 11-note large model before ordering.
- Kalimba B7 or B9: Select the B7/B9 Softbag, which fits both models. It provides a snug, padded fit without excess space. Confirm your Kalimba model number to ensure compatibility.
- Kalimba B5: Use the B5 Softbag, designed specifically for the B5. This prevents the instrument from shifting during transport. If you own multiple kalimbas, consider the Twin Softbag to carry two at once.
